HELSINKI – Certior Capital is delighted to announce that it has been nominated as a finalist in the Private Equity Awards 2021 in the category of “Special Situations House of the Year”. The Private Equity Awards 2021 “Recognising the Best in European Private Equity” are now in their 20th year and are the longest running and most prestigious private equity awards in Europe. The awards are organised by Real Deals magazine in cooperation with Cass Business School, Preqin and a judging panel of leading industry practitioners.

Certior focuses on unorthodox opportunities that provide asymmetric risk-return profiles

“We are thrilled to make it to the final of these highly prestigious awards among some of the best-known special situations investors in Europe”, says Ari Jauho, chairman of Certior Capital. “This is a much-appreciated recognition of Certior´s long standing focus on turnaround, special situation and distressed investing. 2020 was a landmark year for our business in many ways. Inspite of Covid-19 we closed 10 co-investments, 3 primary funds and 1 secondary. We held final closings on our flagship opportunistic private credit and private equity funds focusing on unique, below the radar transactions in undercapitalised market segments and then held a first closing of Certior Special Opportunities Fund focusing on niche European special situations strategies and distressed assets. Our portfolios of event driven deep value investments have proved themselves to be remarkably resilient and we remain very happy with their performance to date”.

“We also continued to invest in our team and appointed Pertti Nurmio, a vastly experienced Nordic private credit investor, in a senior adviser role, and brought in Anssi Koikkalainen as a new investment analyst”, he adds. “Finally, in the very last few days of 2020 we moved into larger offices to allow for further growth this year. Dealflow has remained very strong since the New Year and we will contnue to work hard on behalf of our growing international investor base”.
