Meet the Certior Capital team in Monaco, Berlin and Amsterdam
Certior Capital, a leading European fund-of-funds manager focused on SME private credit, has been asked to speak at several major private credit events in Monaco, Berlin and Amsterdam later this year. As institutional interest in SME private credit continues to rise, the firm has found itself increasing invited to moderate panels, lead discussions and give presentations at leading industry events. The team has been a pioneer in the sector for almost two decades. It made its first primary investment in a private credit fund in 1998 and has since made over 50 investments. In 2016 it transacted on 3 credit primaries, 1 secondary and 10 coinvestments on behalf of its clients including European pension funds, insurance companies and family offices.
Among recent speaking engagements, on 31 May, Ari Jauho, Chairman of Certior Capital, spoke in Paris at the Private Debt European Forum. The panel focused on coinvestments and considered the growing use of coinvestments in private credit and the types of opportunities LPs are looking for. Mr Jauho also participated in a panel at the Private Debt Investor Germany event in Munich on 21 June. The subject was the acceleration of the direct lending market, in particular, the development of the asset class and the evolution of the competitive landscape.
The Certior Capital team has now been asked to speak at three major industry events in the coming weeks. Timo Hara, a partner at the firm, has been asked to participate in a private credit panel discussion at Capital Creation 2017 in Monaco on 14 September. The topics under discussion include the sustainability of the European private credit market, emerging managers, measuring risk-returns and future market developments. Mr Hara has also been asked to chair a networking round table focusing on private credit taking place on the following day of the conference.
The team has also received an invitation to speak at the LPGP Connect Private Debt Berlin which takes place on 7 November as well as at the private debt summit at SuperInvestor 2017 in Amsterdam on 14 November. The discussion at SuperInvestor 2017 is titled “Private debt allocations: the LP view”. It will look at how LPs maximise the effectiveness of their allocations to private debt, return expectations and how they distinguish between the various strategies and managers.
Commenting on the increasing interest in the SME private credit market, Ari Jauho remarks: “Many European investors have started to allocate resources and capital to the broader private credit sector in recent years. Now they are in a position to more accurately assess the risk-adjusted returns available in SME lending which in our view compare very favourably to many other private and public asset classes. We are very happy to help spread this message!”
